Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a safe, non invasive and painless procedure. It uses a small probe and gel placed directly on the skin. High-frequency sound waves travel from the probe through the gel into your pets body. The probe collects the sounds that bounce back and a computer uses those sound waves to create an image. It is used to help diagnose the causes of pain, swelling and infection in the body’s internal organs.  Ultrasound exams do not use radiation (as used in x-rays). Since images are being captured in real-time it can show the structure and movement of internal organs. It’s also used to help guide biopsies, diagnose, and assess damage.  The area your pet is having ultrasound will require it be clipped free of hair,  sometimes mild sedation may be needed.
