Career Opportunity – Vet Assistant/Receptionist
Fall River Animal Hospital has a new career opportunity for a part time or full time receptionist or vet assistant. This challenging but pivotal role will have a lot of opportunity for learning and development, and you will have ongoing support from our friendly team.
Who we are:
Only a 10-15 minute drive to Bedford or Dartmouth, our five doctor, locally-owned hospital has been well established in the Fall River community for over 25 years. We are fully equipped with the latest Idexx lab equipment and digital radiography, as well as therapeutic laser, cryosurgery, and ultrasound.
Most of our staff and doctors are trained in fear free/low stress handling and we pride ourselves in offering the highest quality medical and surgical care for our patients. Most of our patients are dogs, cats and rabbits, but we also have guinea pig, ferret and rodent patients.
Our hours of operation are Mon to Thurs 8-8, Fri 8-6, CLOSED Sat and Sun.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Providing exceptional patient and client care
- Warmly welcoming our patients and their families on arrival to the hospital
- Administrative tasks such as answering multi-line phone and emails
- Scheduling appointments and surgeries
- Updating medical records with client communications
- Assisting with appointments (doing intakes/histories, helping technicians with procedures or diagnostics, updating medical records, preparing prescriptions)
- General housekeeping duties; maintaining the cleanliness of reception area and exam rooms
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Minimum 1 year experience of customer service – preferably in a medical, veterinary or other professional setting
- Veterinary Assistant program considered an asset, but not required
- Excellent customer service skills and the genuine desire to help our patients and their families, and make them feel at ease. Having empathy for pets and their caregivers is a must.
- A love for animals and a passion to be part of a team who helps them live long and comfortable lives
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail as well as the ability to multitask
- A willingness to learn some medical terminology, and get ongoing education about different veterinary diets, services and products.
What we Offer:
- Competitive hourly wage between $17 and $22 (based on experience/qualifications)
